here are some pictures i've snapped with my phone in the last few days. they're from places i've been and things i've been doing. my surroundings have been pretty inspiring lately. enjoy!

the other day i stopped to read in the park for a couple of hours. at one point, there was an ice cream truck in the street to my left playing 'do your ears hang low'. it was cute. to my right, there was a boy playing kings of leon on his guitar. he was also singing. in front of me, there was a dad playing catch with his son.....

happy thanksgiving! i'm thankful for being surrounded by such pretty things.

deep thoughts at 7am.

i literally JUST walked into work and sat down at my computer. but i had to start writing this asap because i wanted to share what i just heard on kidd kraddick.

every now and then, they do a bit called 'love letters to kelly'. i usually miss it because i'm already at work by the time they do it but this morning i was running late. and i think god made me over sleep on purpose so i could hear this.

last night i was doing a bit of facebook stalking and i was looking at the profile of this person i vaguely knew in college. we had a couple of classes together but were never really friends or anything. this person is now doing crazy super awesome things with their life. and i couldn't help but be just a tad bit jealous because this person is also one of the most talented/creative people i've ever met. i wish i had a tenth of this guys creativity. he's unreal.

last week, jenny had a similar realization about another creative person we both admire.

so needless to say, the feeling of failure has been looming. maybe failure isn't the right word. but you know what i mean.

anyway, back to 'love letters to kelly'. this girl wrote in and said that she was in her mid 20's and felt like she hasn't accomplished anything and like she has basically missed every important opportunity. as for guys, she said that it was hard to find someone because she felt like every guy she met was still stuck in their college frat boy ways. she asked if it was normal to feel this way. kelly told her "absolutely" and then proceeded to talk about how she stood in the bathroom of a ruby tuesday's on her 24th birthday sobbing as she put on her apron because she thought that she would have been so much further in life by then. then jenna, the younger 20 something on the show chimed in. she said that this time is the most unhappy she's ever been and that all of her older friends in their 30's say that their lives are COMPLETELY different now, for the better. so yes, quarter life crises are totally normal.

now, i already knew this. but it's nice to know that you're not the only one who's experienced it.

the general consensus on the show was that now is the time for us to have fun and stop worrying about settling down.

some people are just really good at life. and some people have extreme talent and opportunities that most of us don't have the pleasure of knowing. so it's okay if you're 24 and haven't accomplished everything you've always wanted.

life is going to be just fine.

that's some deep stuff for 7am. and i apologize for that. but i just wanted to share it with you and i hope it makes someone feel better just like it did for me. :)

bo.

this weekend i'll be down in baton rouge for lsu vs. ole miss...just for the tailgating anyway, because i have some pretty exciting plans that are taking precedent over the actual game.

i'm going to see bo burnham saturday night.

a couple years ago i was wandering through youtube and i stumbled upon this kid named bo. i fell in love with him. he's famous now. and he's got a show in new orleans this weekend. so i'm gonna go. i'm way more excited than i should be. (actually no...i should be stoked. and i am!) this kid was 17 when he uploaded his first video to youtube. videos he recorded in his little blue bedroom. singing/rapping about how his family thinks he's gay and other stuff that would probably make your mom extremely disappointed in you if she caught you listening to it. those videos caught on and got him a record deal with comedy central records. ahh...the glory of youtube. he's 20 now. and he's still horribly offensive. no subject is safe. race, religion, sex, death....i could keep going. but he's hilarious and probably smarter than you are. meet bo. bo is a comedian/musician/rapper/actor. bo is my boyfriend.

no seriously. i have huge crush on him. he's adorable. i can't wait to see my bo!

.........and that was the LEAST offensive video i could find. no for real. you'd probably get pissed at me if i had posted the one i really wanted to (it's called cookout if you want to look it up). but if you're not easily offended, go visit bo's youtube channel. and don't get any ideas. he's mine and i saw him first.

makeup time!

i've never been one to buy expensive makeup because honestly, some cheaper brands work just as well and the more expensive ones do. i started out using clinique which was a mistake because it's not oil free and only made my skin worse. my dermatologist in high school turned me onto almay and i haven't had a single problem since. plus it's WAY cheaper than department store brands. i'll use almay foundation till the day i die and i'll recommend it everyone. it's GREAT for your skin because it's oil free and created by dermatologists.

but in the last few months, i've really had a hard time finding a good concealer, blush, and mascara. these are three things i can't live without and are the ones most important to me. you know like when people ask "what are the key makeup products you must have over anything else?" well....concealer, blush, and mascara are mine. moisturizer too but that's not makeup...we'll get to that later. anyway, i'm always on the hunt for the perfect mascara especially (you'll find out why in a minute). i finally got fed up with it and decided to bite the bullet and try some of the more expensive stuff for my must haves. here's what i've found:




1. regenerist micro-sculpting cream by olay: i've actually been using this stuff for awhile now. my mom scared the ever loving daylights out of me last year when she told me i would regret not using moisturizer at young age. ever since, i haven't gone to bed without it. it's become a habit and i almost can't stand the way my face feels if i don't put it on. this stuff smells amazing! it runs about $26 for a jar but a little goes a very long way and it doesn't make your skin super oily like some moisturizers do. it hydrates really well so your skin doesn't stretch out from putting on makeup everyday. and you'll wake up with the softest face ever.

2. amazing concealer by amazing cosmetics: thank jenny for this one. she went on and on about how great this stuff is and since i had been having so much trouble with my concealer lately, i thought i'd give it a try. i went into ulta yesterday and got color matched. i always have problems with my concealer gathering in creases of my eyes and wearing off during the day. and i have super dark circles that unfortunately, in my family, are genetic and not caused by lack of sleep. so a good concealer is clutch. this stuff is pricey ($27 at ulta for the smaller tube), but jenny wasn't lyin', this stuff rules. it hasn't gathered in the creases of my eyes and the tiniest little dab will cover everything so i'm expecting this stuff to last a LONG time. i guess it's the number one concealer in the world for a reason. :)

3. blush rush by smashbox: i have an olive skin tone so most blushes don't show up on my face unless they're super dark. they also have a tendency to wear off during the day. so i asked my ulta girl "what's a good blush that will actually show up on my skin and won't wear off?" she asked if i liked lighter or darker shades, i told her darker because the lighter colors don't show up on me and she lead me over to this stuff. blush rush in gingersnap by smashbox. i've always wanted to try smashbox products but didn't want to drop the money on it ($24 at ulta). she told me that the pigmentation is super concentrated so the color is more saturated and a little will go a long way. it goes on super smooth and evenly and lasts forever. i wore it all afternoon and evening yesterday and it didn't budge until i washed my face. i've had it on all day today and it's still lookin' like i just put it on. and you can actually see it on my face. it comes in a variety of colors for all skin tones and preferences, plus the compact has a little fold out mirror on the bottom. cute. :)

4. 3 triple action mascara by cargo: i have the shortest eyelashes known to mankind. and to top it off, they're straight. ugh! so i tend to dabble around in different brands looking for the perfect mascara. one that will curl and lengthen and all that other good stuff. in high school i used an eyelash curler. mistake. they just make your lashes stick together and cause your mascara to cake up. plus i've seen people accidentally break their lashes off with those things! so i ditched the curler years ago and have since been looking for just a simple mascara that can take on the challenge of making me actually look like i have lashes without clumping up, flaking off, and giving me raccoon eyes. i've found a few that were OKAY. but lately, i've been having horrible luck. they all want to clump up, flake off, and work their way down onto my bottom eyelid and make me look like i just woke up with a hangover. not good. so again, i asked my ulta girl "what's the best mascara for a girl like me with super short, straight lashes? one that doesn't clump or flake off." she asked me what type of brush i preferred. i told her i was partial to the comb because it allows for more control. she turned me on to this stuff by cargo. it lengthens, curls, and thickens, all without wearing off. she actually showed me how it works. this stuff has collagen in it and polymers that you can actually see working when you pull out the comb. yeah. just trust me. it works. i love this stuff. $20 at ulta.

the price tags aren't fun, but you definetly get what you pay for. if you know of any other great products puh-leez let me know! i love a good bronzer too. :) hope this is helpful to someone!

i'm getting it cut off friday. yep. i'm cutting off my long hair ONLY because it's seen better days and just needs to start over. it's for my own good. i'll probably miss it 5 min. after it's gone, but i'm pretty excited about where i'm going with this. here's what i'm thinking....

ever LET yourself make a mistake? like...you know good and well this is stupid and could only lead to disaster and heartache, but you do it anyway? self torture. i fell for it. i fell for it FAST. when will i ever learn? now would be a really good time to runaway back to STT to stop myself from doing this....plus it's getting cold outside. i hate it. i moved this home weekend. TEMPORARILY. i hate that too. i'm working 13 hours today and i won't get home till 11ish only to wake up at 5 tomorrow morning and do it all over again. i also hate that. but what i don't hate is the thrill i get from this TITANIC mistake i'm making. i will definitely regret this later.

i have this problem where every time i go to the movies (which is not very often) i see previews for TONS of movies i want to see, and then i never end up seeing them because i forget or i just never get the chance to go. so i'm making a list. a list of movies i want to see so i don't forget. so here they are in order of their release date.

i've been wanting to see this movie foreverrrrr. apparently the release date got pushed back to next march. it was originally supposed to come out in september of this year. so i guess i'll just have to wait a few more months. i can't wait. matt damon is SO good in these mind bending movies. this is probably favorite on the entire list. i have been waiting on this movie for what seems like years. save the best for last! :)

i've been listening to new kids on the block all morning. why you ask? well, aside from the fact that nkotb is still awesome, i just heard that they are going on tour with backstreet boys.

um. oh my god.

i mean, i was an n*sync girl to the extreme, but i most definitely dug bsb at first.

wait wait wait....hold up a second. rewind back to when i was still wearing slap bracelets. yeah, back when the first original boy band made it's appearance. i'm pretty sure there's a new kids lunchbox still in my parents attic somewhere. i may have only been 5 at the time but i definitely rocked out to new kids in my acid wash jeans while watching their cartoon on saturday mornings and lying on the floor snuggled up in a sleeping bag with their faces plastered all over it.
oh donnie...swoon. rat tail mullet and all.

then i hit the preteen years and there were the backstreet boys. ready to fill my need for a boy band during that time growing up when boy bands are essential to every girls life.
(that is, until n*sync showed up and i died and went to boy band heaven.) but unlike most girls, i still loved bsb regardless. i know i know....scandalous right?

***let it be known to any and all reading this, that n*sync is still my favorite between the battle with bsb. that is very important. i'm still waiting for their next tour. because after all, they never officially broke up.....***

but anyway, back to my point.

due to my love for nkotb and bsb i should probably go to this tour.

pop just is't what it used to be. thankfully i'm not still stuck on it otherwise you'd unfortunately be reading the blog of a girl who listens to the jonas brothers and justin beiber. (did i spell that right?) long live the original boy bands! they'll always have a special place in my heart. can't wait to get my tickets! i'll be there with my slap bracelets on. along with the rest of the 20-30 somethings who still love their boy bands from back in the day. the originals.
