it's almost here!

the lost season 6 premiere is almost here! tuesday can't come soon enough. here's some really rad posters i found as i was reading through jorge garcia's blog. the designer is ty mattson of mattson creative. the first one is my favorite by far. SUCH an amazing concept!

also, here's a hilarious little recap of EVERYthing that's happened so far. don't watch this if you're not caught all the way up! but chances are if you do watch this, you'll still be confused and you won't remember anything anyway. i've seen them all and i still don't remember or understand half of what's going on. ahhh, the glory of lost. my guess is that they're only going to confuse us with more questions. bring it on jj. bring it on.

yesterday apple released the iPad.

i'm having some trouble with the name. it just does not bring good mental images for me. but i see where they were going with it. anyway, something else i'm having trouble with is the fact that it is nothing more than a giant iPod touch. i have searched and searched for anything to convince me otherwise, or at least convince me that this product is actually as groundbreaking as it's been made out to be. let me just be the first to say that I LOVE APPLE. i own a macbook pro. i own an iPod. i own an iPhone. i. am. a. mac. don't get me wrong, the iPad IS badass (sans the the hideous name), but my issue here is that it is NOT anything new and i was struggling to see the purpose behind it other than entertainment. i don't doubt that steve jobs knows what he's doing so i'm positive there was some logic to it. but it IS just a larger version of an iPod touch. plain and simple. and i have found nothing to tell me otherwise. however, after searching and searching for a good reason to actually shell out $500 for one of these babies (besides the fact that is fun to play with)...i finally found one. 4 reasons why the Apple iPad is great for designers and illustrators

so there. i'd buy one. i just really hate the name.

like i need another reason to love jack white.

last night, i finally got a chance to sit down and watch "it might get loud" in it's entirety. it's about jack white, jimmy page, the edge and their take on what the electric guitar means to them and means to music.
absolutely fantastic. great. spectacular.

jack white. i. love. you. and i want to be your best friend.

i'd love to post all of my favorite moments from this movie but i doubt you'd have the time.
i highly recommend that you watch it.

as of lately:
this past weekend, i went for a little visit to my dream house. now i'm smittin. it's all i can think about. i hoping, praying, and keeping everything crossed in hopes that what lauren and i need to happen, will happen in time. basically, we found THE PERFECT bungalow. we are just waiting to find out the third possible roommate's situation and hoping that we find out before someone else snatches up OUR 741. the house we've been d y i n g to have for 3 months now.i love everything about this house. the architecture. the porch. the swing. the back yard. the floors that squeak and crack. it. is. perfect.
i die.

lauren gave me my belated christmas present on saturday.
i love that my friends are really starting to explore their own creativity.
precious girl did me proud. she knows me.

for the first time in history the saints are heading to the superbowl.
and i got to see them play. i are happy. i kind of feel like i'm starting to get back in line. i'm more relaxed. and life is starting to show signs of getting better. b a b y s t e p s.
i feel like once i move, things will start falling back into place.

lost season 6 premier: 6 days away.

you're so misunderstood.

wilco. i love you.

all things go

there is a house that i have been d y i n g to have for months. the amount that i would have to put up for it up front is much much much more than i should think rationally about spending. but it is my dream house. and maybe this is what i need to force me to start saving my money.

this leads me to: i'm going to start managing my money better.
organization is key.

i keep going back and forth between happy and in a serious funk.
s n a p o u t o f i t.

brandi carlile is playing at house of blues in march. i will be in attendance.
no matter how easily her songs make me cry.

i really miss my friends.

speaking of friends,
sometimes i wonder if it's my fault
for screwing it up so bad.
how did it get to be sooo bad?

but i'm excited about the good things to come.
a new location.
a new home.
things are coming along.
i just need a new job.

i've already come up with a handful of designs for my side project.
i really hope i get a response.

fight night

i've never been a fan of boxing, or ufc or any fighting in general...i mean, i'm a girl. why would i be, right? wrong. last weekend my friend morgan asked me to come along with her to watch her friend jeremy's mma fight because she didn't want to go alone and it was also her first 'fight night'. i didn't even know what mma was until i asked a boy. so being as we were both apprehensive about the whole thing, we went together and told ourselves that we were going to have fun.

"it's gonna be fun. this is gonna be good. we're gonna make this fun."

actually, we loved it.

our guy won! woo hoo!

my only complaint about the whole thing: too many old, drunk, creepy rednecks. and one too many tap-out shirts. ew.

p.s. i got another compliment on my headband that night.
this time from a 40 yr. old man. ha!

oh. my. gosh.

i WILL cry.

a little bit of warmth in january.

today, it is warm outside. and i LOVE it. cold weather just brings out the worst in me. i like being able to sit outside and enjoy the world around me. the weather outside, although it's not sunny, makes me want to make things. this is why i can't wait for spring and summer....it's just different. it's just better.

my problem is that i'm.... this is why i have designers block. but i read something once that made me realize that true artists are the ones that change their mind all the damn time. true artists are the ones who are self conscious. and last weekend someone called me a true artist. i didn't hate it. it's just so hard to find inspiration when you're stuck in a rut. but i find that you have look anywhere and everywhere. all winter, i've been couped up in the house watching movie after movie. and listening to album after album. surrounding myself with art.
these are things that help me. i'm really really really in love with indie/cult films. wes anderson is one of my favorite directors and lately i've been watching my two favorite films of his on repeat.
i've also been listening to brandi carlile for a couple of years now. i'm in love with her music and have been listening to her in excessive amounts during my winter hibernation. she will be performing at the house of blues in new orleans in march. i want. i want. i want.
i want to go.

now, even though it's only mid january, and we've still got a few more cold weeks to endure, i'm ready for spring and warm weather. i'm ready use all of this inspiration. but i'll probably start this weekend by working on my new little side project. i'm really excited about it.
what inspires you?

p.s. sometimes it sucks knowing that something you love so much has to change. but if it means you'll be better off in the long run...so be it. i'm. getting. better.

attempting redemption

sometimes, i just get in these moods that won't go away. i hate it when that happens. i become the worst version of myself. lately, i've been doing a pretty damn good job of that. but today, it doesn't seem so bad because it's inspired me to change bad habits.

p u s h p l a y.

every night it seems like, i wake up between 2:30-2:50am and most of the time i'll fall back asleep. last night however, i laid there for 3 hours...in the dark. just thinking. but not over thinking. just thinking. mostly about how pissed off i am that for the s e c o n d time in a row, i've received jacked up dvd's in my never ending hunt for the complete series of golden girls. and occasionally about how i wish i had done a few things differently in the past and about how i need to stop devoting all of myself to others and leaving nothing left for...well...myself. don't get me wrong, i love love love doing things for my people and would in a heartbeat. but i never seem to do whats best for me. and i mean this in the absolute best way possible, but i think i need to be a little more selfish.

this morning, i came into work early, for the first time this week, and i got right to the business. i paid a massive pile of bills that has been gathering up on my desk. as i was starting to put a dent in my pile, the guy who's job i'm filling in for walked in. let me remind you that i have almost been here for a full year and it was only supposed to last six months. in this time, i have searched and searched for a good job. one that's not temporary. one that will allow me to take care of myself and pay for responsible things like health insurance and such. i have been unsuccessful. anyway, back to my original point. so this guy walks in. in all the time i've been working here, i've only heard about this man. he's like a unicorn. i hear about him a l l the time but i've never seen him. up until now. when he told me his name, i felt this weird mood come over me. not the terrified 'oh my god he's back, i'm now out of a job' kind of feeling. but a '...well, now what?' kind of feeling. normally, i would have freaked out and jumped to conclusions. but i didn't today. i just kept on paying the bills. when he came back in, i asked him if he was finally coming back. his reply: "no, not yet. it'll probably be another year or so." calm set in. granted, this will not stop me from continuing to look for another job. but this moment that took place reminded me of something that i have been doing a really shitty job of remembering lately.
i h a v e a j o b.
and no matter how much i hate it and no matter how much some of my coworkers drive me insane.
i h a v e a j o b.
even if the time i'm going to be here is unknown. could be 2 more months. could be another year. but i need to stop taking that fact for granted.

lately, i've really been missing my own space. maybe that's why i never feel like myself anymore....hmmm. remind me to remember all of the badass ideas i have for my next place. don't forget.

tonight, i'm going to a fight. yeah i said it. a fight. i h a t e f i g h t i n g. i don't even like boxing. except on wii. and now i'm going to a mma fight to watch some dudes beat the hell out of eachother. how i got myself into this i do not know. i'ma ghatdamn g i r l...........hughhhhh. i'm bringing reinforcements that go by the name of jose and stoli. what does one wear to such an event? ah, who cares. it's a fight. but i'm gonna look good damn it. i'll let you know how my experience goes.

i have decided that i'm going to attempt my headband making idea.....

peace out.

p.s. bad mood/attitude of week has left the building. thank god.

today,

...is my brothers 33 birthday! which means that this is the year i will be 24. my gosh.

...is better than yesterday. although people at work are still getting on my nerves. i just want to be left alone. is that too much to ask?

...i'm hoping that my first ebay purchase is sitting on my doorstep when i get home :o)

p.s. there is nothing i hate more than unoriginal people and the ones that try too hard. lately, it's really been getting to me and i seem to notice it much more than usual. i need to stop. but then again, so do they...

and i love this pretty band. this song is so so old but i never get tired of it.

a new idea...

saturday, i went boat shopping with the family. i was sitting in the store talking to mom and amanda while dad and walt were walking around and looking, when this woman walks up to us and asks me about my headband and where i got it. she told me how much she loved it and when amanda told her that i made it, she said
"....you should sell those."

the night that i made that headband, i was with amanda and we were making all kinds of fun little things. jewelry. tie dye shirts. and we mentioned the idea of actually selling some of it, but i never thought about it again after that, even though i had a few people ask me to make them one.

when the woman walked away, i started thinking again. and then the ideas started flowing.

i'm going to think about this some more...would anyone actually buy my stuff? only one way to find out i guess.....

p.s. i'm getting stronger by the day.

a butterfly effect

as far as new beginnings go, i'm getting off to an extremely slow start. when i first started writing this, i said i wouldn't fill it with angry or sad moments that i've encountered...and i'm not going to. but i have been going through a rough patch since the very start of this new year and it hasn't been pretty. in fact, it's been probably one of the worst periods in my life. one tiny moment brought out every bad thing at once and as a result, i've been very secluded and careless about most things i usually love. but i've had the best family and friends surrounding me these last few days to help guide me through it and listen to me. i'm hoping this will pass sooner rather than later. i mean hey, it can only go up from here right? things will change, no matter how much we don't want them to. but they change so that they can get better. and sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better. if i've learned anything in the last few days, it's that sometimes it takes something bad to make things good. and i just have to remember that "everything will be okay in the end. if it's not okay, it's not the end."

goal for now: be calm.
